Warp Factor Series 1
65100 Basic Figures Asst.
August - 1997
This assortment featured new packaging and all of the characters DS9 characters where old style classic uniforms from the DS9 episode "Trials and Tribble-ations". This episode was set against the backdrop of the TOS episode "The Trouble with Tribbles".
Playmates also included Star Trek Triple Tribbles game pieces. Prizes included a Starfleet or Klingon multi-media home theater, trips to Hollywood, pieces of the DS9 set, Playmates toys and book sets, StarFleet Academy CD-ROM games, and DS9 Comic books. The contest ran through 12/31/97 and game pieces were also available at Dairy Queen.
Some figures were randomly packed with fuzzy tribbles (usually three) in addition to the plastic tribbles. The fuzzy tribbles were brown, tan or purple in color.
WF1 was eventually clearanced to Kaybee Toys stores. Since the entire allottment sat unsold for a period of time before shipping to Kaybee, Chief O'Brien was even harder to find.
In addition to the limited edition O'Brien, some collectors were also angered by the new packaging which prevents viewing the collector number printed on the figure's foot.
The below figures were all released in Canada & the UK, however the cards are void of all Tripple Tribble Promotion Details, and do not come with Gamepieces. They also do not with randomly inserted furry tribbles.
