Playmates did not release very many sets of figures.  Perhaps the Classic Star Trek Set and the Officers Set initially discouraged the company because they were over-produced and didn't sell out immediately.  They also commanded higher prices than single figures.

In 1998, the sets returned with a vengeance, with a total of 5 scheduled for release!

1701 Star Trek 3-Pack
(Released Late March 1998)

Many collectors requested the limited Edition Picard, Yar, and Barclay to be re-issued.  With only 1,701 Picard and Yar, and only 3,000 of Barclay, many collectors had been unable to get them.

Aside from not being carded individually, Yar and Picard differ slightly from the original issue. Picard is missing a black star symbol on the insignias in his belt and comm pin. Their feet are not individually numbered either, however they were originally planned to be.

20,000 sets were produced. Production was originally planned for 50,000 sets.
