Asst. 16100 First Contact Movie Figures
Playmates introduced the new scale of 6 inch figures with movie "First Contact". Playmates hoped to stimulate sales with the new scale, which is suppose to allow greater articulation and detail. Many collectors hated the new scale because they already had 200+ figures in the 4.5 inch scale. The figures did not sell well and were overproduced.
Above is the Promo Picture for the First Contact Figures, Notice the blank spot behind Geordi LaForge, the Borgified Data was originally there but edited out because it was inaccurate, and was not portrayed that way in the movie. The figure was dropped from the assortment. The picture of the Borgified Data can be found in the Unreleased Playmates Section. Lily is also not shown because she had not been planned, and was made to replace the Borgified Data.
Lily and Cochrane were shipped concentrated in later shipments, but were not limited editions. All of figures were packed with a movie mini poster of the U.S.S. Phoenix.
Although a Borg is included in the assortment, the absence of the Borg Queen is a glaring omission.
